Dr. Michael Stevenson is Associate Professor of History at the Orillia campus of Lakehead University specializing in military and diplomatic history. Among his publications are Canada’s Greatest Wartime Muddle: National Selective Service and the Mobilization of Human Resources during World War II (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2001) and three edited volumes of diplomatic correspondence in the Documents on Canadian External Relations series covering the government of John Diefenbaker. His current ongoing projects are a biography of Howard Charles Green, Canada’s foreign minister from 1959 to 1963, and a study of Orillia’s Champlain Monument. He is also part of an international team editing the papers of Bertrand Russell, the prominent British social activist and philosopher.
